The Practice of Sanjana Karim, MD

Practicing in the Bay Area & seeing patients throughout California, specializing in women’s mental health & psycho-oncology

Psychotherapist and Psycho-Oncologist

Meaningful Change Starts Here.

Welcome. I’m glad you’re here.

I’m Dr. Sanjana Karim, founder of Peace Tree Mental Health. I help women who feel stuck in their lives or are struggling with life transitions find healing and contentment. I place special focus on women’s mental health issues such as professional and relationship stress, infertility, peri-partum depression, and premenstrual dysphoria.

I also specialize in psycho-oncology, which is a cancer specialty that addresses the psychological, behavioral, emotional and social issues that arise for cancer patients and their loved ones. As a cancer survivor myself, this topic is close to my heart.

My passion lies in combining healing for the mind, body, and spirit for the best outcomes for cancer survivors and their caregivers and families. I use an integrative approach with a focus on psychotherapy, combined with other treatment modalities when beneficial. These can include medication, lifestyle modifications, optimizing nutritional wellness, and collaborating with primary care doctors and oncologists.

I am here to provide a space for you that is safe, healing, and peaceful.

I look forward to meeting you.

What therapy with Dr. Karim looks like:

I encourage you to view therapy as an investment in your overall wellness.

As your partner and guide in this journey, my goal is to first address and relieve the emotional suffering that brings people to treatment, such as the stress and uncertainty of illness. This often co-exists with chronic struggles with mood, anxiety, and traumas of the past.

Our work is about helping you go from ‘surviving’ to ‘thriving’ in your life. My approach can be seen as a melding between traditional therapy and life coaching. It is focused on facilitating change and transformation in your life.
