Professional Background

Dr. Sanjana Karim is a dual board-certified physician in the San Francisco Bay Area treating patients throughout California by telehealth. She specializes in providing short and long-term psychotherapy, complemented with medication treatment when needed.

Dr. Karim obtained her medical degree from the Georgetown University School of Medicine, where she received the Francis Clark Award in Psychiatry. She completed her residency in psychiatry and a resident fellowship in health policy at the George Washington University Hospital. She also went on to obtain additional subspecialty training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based therapies, EMDR.

Dr. Karim has been in practice for over 15 years, and is board-certified in Adult Psychiatry as well as Addiction Medicine. She has published and taught students and residents extensively on the following areas of interest: psycho-oncology, taking a holistic, spiritual and integrative approach to symptoms of psychological distress.

Dr. Karim provides compassionate, non-judgmental, evidence-based care to people struggling with feeling “stuck” or out of place in their lives. She specializes in helping people who want to improve their emotional intelligence and cognitive flexibility. These are keys to success in any area of life.
