Services

New Patient Consultation |  60 min

During your first appointment, you and Dr. Karim will go over the current concerns that bring you to treatment, your past history, your relationships and current life story. At the end of the session, she will discuss your initial diagnostic impression and treatment recommendations. Treatment recommendations include the type of therapy engagement that would best fit your needs, and may include diagnostic tests and referrals to other medical specialties, and judicious use of medications. When she does recommend medications, she usually does not start medication treatment until a few visits in order to ensure diagnostic clarity as well as making sure you are fully informed of risks, benefits and alternatives.

Follow-up Session |  45 min

Dr. Karim incorporates psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness therapies, existential therapy, as well as coaching principles into her therapy approach, as needed for each case. To fully benefit from therapy, patients should be seen weekly, spacing out to lower frequency once you have seen the changes you seek. She integrates medication and medical management as needed.

New patient appointments are charged at the time of booking, and follow-up visit fees are charged on the date of service.

Dr. Karim does not begin treatment with patients solely with the aim of providing medications.

Insurance:

Dr. Karim provides her patients with a high level of personalized care. In order to offer her best work to you, she doesn’t directly work with any insurance company. She is an out of network provider with insurance. However, If your insurance covers ‘out-of-network providers’ (typically PPO insurance plans), they may reimburse you for part of your fee. You may contact them to determine what the reimbursement rates on your plan are. Peace Tree Mental Health has partnered with Reimbursify for you to easily submit your claims for out-of-network health insurance reimbursement.

Good Faith Estimate Information:

Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
